Start with the result you need
Choose Guide for clarification, Researcher for supplied evidence and gaps, Analyst for tradeoffs, Planner for steps, Architect for design, Writer & editor for prose, Critical reviewer for challenges, or Learning coach for explanation and practice. Standard Soval needs no persona.
Choose the scope
In Preferences, choose an optional account default. In Workroom, open Choose a persona for this work for This work session or Next AI response.
Apply it explicitly
Choose an approach and select Apply selection. The next-response choice takes precedence over the session, then the account default. Explicit Standard Soval suppresses a broader persona choice.
Make a personal version
Choose Copy to my collection or Create a personal persona. Describe its purpose, method, and expected output. Select Save persona, then apply the saved version separately.
Preview, versions, and archiving
Preview selected approach displays its definition. Preview with sample (1 attempt) generates a sample using a drafting attempt. Neither preview activates it. Edits create a new version; existing selections keep their pinned version.
Archiving a persona preserves its history and makes it unavailable for new selection. Restore does not reactivate old selections; apply it again when wanted.
“Next AI response” means the next Soval generation for that work, including a request through connected Soval chat. It does not control an arbitrary ChatGPT reply. Personas cannot grant permissions or professional credentials. Applying, copying, or changing a persona does not change your account’s saved context selections.
